Bieber Bio


Justin Drew Bieber is a Canadian Pop and R&B singer. He was born was born on March 1, 1994 in Stratford, Ontario to single mother Pattie Mallette. Bieber began his professional career on Youtube, but he has since gone on to achieve international stardom.
At 12, Bieber entered a local singing competition, placing second with a cover of Ne-Yo's "So Sick." He taught himself how to play several musical instruments, including the piano, drums, guitar, and trumpet. In 2007 Bieber and his mother began posting videos of Bieber’s performances on YouTube for absent friends and family. Beiber performed covers of various songs by artists like Usher, Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson.
Scooter Braun, a former marketing executive of So So Def, discovered Bieber’s Youtube videos by accident while searching for another singer. Braun was impressed and after meeting the young singer, Braun flew Bieber to Atlanta, Georgia. There he introduced Bieber to Usher. After hearing him sing, Usher became greatly interested in Bieber, securing him an audition with Antonio L.A. Reid at Island Records .Bieber was signed to Island Records in October 2008.
On November 17, 2009 Bieber released his debut EP titled My World. My World achieved Platinum status in the United States and Canada, giving Bieber the honor of highest debut by a new artist in 2009. Also, because of My World’s immense popularity, Bieber became the first artist to have seven songs form a debut album chart on the Billboard Hot 100.
His first single “One Time” was released on radio while Bieber was still recording his first album. During its first week of release in July 2009, the song reached number 12 on the Canadian Hot 100 and number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100. Later in the year, its success spread to international markets. The song was certified Platinum in Canada and the U.S. and Gold in Australia and New Zealand. Bieber’s next three singles, “One Less Lonely Girl”, “Love Me”, and “Favorite Girl”, reached the top forty of the Billboard Hot 100.
My World 2.0, Bieber’s first full album, was released on March 23, 2010. Like his previous releases, My World 2.0 was met by immense success. It debuted at number one in the United States and reached the top ten of several other countries. It was certified platinum in less than two months. The lead single “Baby” became Bieber’s biggest hit to date, reaching number five in the United States and the top ten in seven other countries. Bieber’s next two singles, “Never Let You Go”, and "U Smile" were top thirty hits on the Hot 100, and top twenty hits in Canada. My World 2.0 debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, making Bieber the youngest solo male act gain this honor since Stevie Wonder in 1963. My World 2.0 also achieved international success, reaching  the top ten in nineteen other countries.
